You can use the site to search for available organic seeds, vegetative propagation material and seed potatoes. The site is designed to be used by organic farmers and growers to find organic seed, certification bodies to help authorize derogations and seed companies looking to sell certified organic seed. If you search the database and find the varieties you need are not available you must seek a derogation from your certification body before purchasing non-organic seed.
We will do our best to keep the database as up-to-date as possible. Please help us to do this by notifying us of any errors with regard to the availability of varieties at ff@soilassociation.org.

Search tips :
If you know what variety or crop you are looking for ...
simply use the quick search box. Simply type the crop, or variety in to the quick search box on the left making sure that the spelling is correct. Then click on the magnifying glass symbol to begin your search
If you want to look for seed from a particular supplier ...
just type in the company name in the box on the left. You will then be able to select the categories of crops offered by this company to refine your search further. Click on the category or categories you are looking for and then hit search to bring up the varieties available. You can then select the varieties you are looking for by clicking on the box on the left – then hit search. This will present you with a page showing the varieties you are looking for alongside the supplier details.
If you want to search for varieties for a particular crop or crop group ...
Click on the crop category you are looking for e.g. vegetables, then select the crop you are looking for from the drop down box and click search e.g. lettuce. You can then select the type/group of interest to you e.g. batavia and click search to bring up the available Batavia varieties. Click on the left hand box for the varieties you are interested in and press search – this will bring up further details about the seed – for example where it can be supplied, whether it is pelletted or not. Click on the left hand box for the varieties that suit your needs and click search to bring up the supplier details.
Using the site to help submit a derogation request ...
You can also use the database to submit an electronic derogation request to your certification body for varieties that are not available on the database. To do this you will need to use the category, crop and group (drop down) search rather than the quick search. Go through the steps above. If the variety you need is not available follow the steps on screen to prepare an electronic derogation request and submit this to your certification body for their consideration. They will then process the form and notify you whether your derogations have been accepted or rejected. You can also print out a copy of the derogation form by going to the following link, UK derogation form. This can be printed out, filled in and sent to your certification body.
Note: If submitting a derogation for a grass or forage mix do not use the online electronic derogation form. You must still submit your derogation to your certification body as a paper copy.
